Administrative Assistant, Instructor of Piano
My Background: My mother first taught me piano when I was eight years old and she instilled in me a true love for piano and music. I continued piano lessons through high school, where I accompanied multiple choirs and played in musicals. After high school, I stopped playing piano almost entirely, but inspired by my then boyfriend (now husband), I rediscovered my love for the instrument and decided to study piano.
I pursued a degree in Piano Performance at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSUD). With encouragement from some amazing teachers at MSUD, I was able to thrive and get my degree in 2018 in Piano Performance. I have played with several choirs since graduating and most currently I am the Denver Children’s Choir Neighborhood Choir Program Principal Accompanist. I also have taught two years of piano lessons after getting my degree.
What I love about teaching: I love seeing students grow with each lesson, not only with confidence but musically. I love being able to pass on my knowledge to the next generation of musicians and see how they will make it their own.
One way I help my students succeed and flourish: It’s important to me that I teach with kindness and encouragement. Teaching this way helps students want to learn and continue to grow musically (I know from experience).
Performance Experience: I played multiple solo concerts during college, but my love was playing collaboratively with others. My favorite collaborations are piano duos–in 2014 a partner and I won second place in the International Piano Duo Competition in Colorado Springs. I currently play with the Denver Children’s Choir and it brings me joy to be a part of that group of young musician
