This month, we’re excited to feature piano and voice student Amya Goodman!
Amya studies with Ms. Julie. She is a sophomore at Greeley West High School, where she’s involved in theatre, choir, and the forensics team. She also plays keys for her worship band! Below is a picture of Amya playing the Fairy Godmother in a recent production of Shrek.

Here is a little more about Amya:
How long have you taken piano and voice lessons?
I have been playing piano for roughly 6 years. I have been in audition choirs for 6 years, but only started voice lessons in the summer.
What do you love about playing piano? What about singing?
I love the freedom I have to just express myself in a huge community of amazing people who just like to listen to me sing and play, and who appreciate the work that goes into learning just like me.

You’re involved in so many activities! Why is it important to you to continue music lessons, even when you’re busy?
Music lessons are my escape from my busy life. Even if I don’t have much time to practice or am not leveling up very quickly, I think that lessons help me focus and are a relaxed environment for me to grow.
What do you like about Flourish?
I love that there is a network of people constantly working to help me improve. I have met so many great and talented musicians through Flourish, and that means everything to me.
What else do you like to do?
I love to act. I am in Dramatic Interp. for Forensics and I am involved in theater at GWHS. Other than that music is my life, I play keys in my church worship band, and I do a lot of singing for theater.
