This month, we’re excited to feature violin student Eva Furr!
Sixth grader Eva Furr (homeschool/Sacred Heart Academy) is one of our newer violin students. She was nominated for Student Spotlight by her teacher, Ms. Annette.
Here’s what Ms. Annette had to say about Eva:
“Eva Furr is such a joy to teach! She is a dedicated student who consistently puts in work outside of lessons and always chooses to have a positive attitude. When a concept challenges her, she faces it and works to overcome it. Eva’s smile and sunshine-filled personality bring light to those around her, and I am grateful to be her teacher!”

How long have you taken violin lessons?
I’ve taken lessons since September.
What do you love about playing the violin?
It’s really rewarding to hear myself play and grow in my music skills! I have learned incredibly fast. I love the challenges it brings, as well as the variety of songs I play and learn.
Ms. Annette says that you do a great job of facing challenges with a positive attitude. What are some challenges you’ve faced while learning to play the violin, and how did you overcome them?
The first few times I played, my finger muscles became really sore. Over time, I’ve learned how to strengthen them, and improve my posture so that my fingers don’t have to stretch to hold down the strings. I’ve also had to practice a LOT, which can sometimes be a bit tiring: playing the same songs, the same notes, etc. But it’s good for growing more patient AND for progressing in my violin skills!
What do you like about Flourish?
My teacher, Ms. Annette, is really fun! She gives me tips that really help me. She is fun to play violin with, especially when we do rounds with the songs I learn. I look forward to violin lessons every week!
What else do you like to do?
I’m very musical and artistic: I love to play the piano, read books and draw. I love to read horse books and draw horses, too! I also love to go camping and go on road trips with my family.
