STUDENT SPOTLIGHT – NATHAN RASMUSSEN

Wednesday January 30, 2019

This month, we’re excited to feature piano student Nathan Rasmussen!

Nathan is one of the two Flourish students who won the 2018 State Certificate of Excellence and the Center Certificate of Excellence (Preparatory A Piano) granted by the Royal Conservatory of Music last May.

Nathan is a student of Mrs. Grace Ann McCaulie at Flourish Music Academy. He and Trinity H. (see previous blog post) achieved the highest marks in the state in each discipline and level.

Here is a little bit more about Nathan:

Piano, 3rd grade, Chappelow Arts Magnet School.

How long have you taken piano lessons?
I have been taking piano lessons at Flourish for 1.5 years.  I took 2 years of piano keyboard classes at Union Colony Children’s Music Academy before coming to Flourish Music Academy.

What do you love about playing the piano?
It’s fun!  I like the sound of each note and how they go together when I play a song.

You received the highest marks in the Royal Conservatory of Music evaluation in May 2018. What is an obstacle you had to overcome for this achievement?
I had to practice a lot.  The Flourish Practice Challenge helped me learn my RCM songs really well.

What do you like about Flourish?
I like the group Dress Rehearsal lessons because I get to meet other kids who like music like me and I get to hear different instruments played.

What else do you like to do?
I like to play Ice Hockey.  I’m involved in Cub Scouts.  I also like to play video games.
