STUDENT SPOTLIGHT – Paige Wideman

Thursday July 1, 2021

This month, we’re excited to feature voice and piano student
Paige Wideman!

Paige is a student of Ms. Joy Conners (piano) and Ms. Megan Mellenthien (voice). She will be in grade 11 at Ridgeview Classical Schools this fall.

Last month, Paige played the role of Horton in Seussical Jr. at the Fort Collins Children’s Theatre. Ms. Joy saw the show, and she says Paige did an excellent job!

Read the interview below to learn more about Paige!

“I love the story-telling behind piano, as it allows me to explore feelings and thoughts that are complex and deep. For singing, I love the fact that I am creating something beautiful on my own, with my own body.”

How long have you taken piano lessons? What about voice lessons?

I have been taking piano lessons for about 10 years, and voice lessons for about 4.

What do you love about playing piano? What about singing?

I love the story-telling behind piano, as it allows me to explore feelings and thoughts that are complex and deep. For singing, I love the fact that I am creating something beautiful on my own, with my own body.

You recently played Horton in a production of Seussical! Can you tell us about your experience? What were your favorite parts?

My experience playing Horton in Seussical was amazing! I loved being able to perform again, and doing so in an amphitheatre was something I’ll never forget. My favorite parts would have to be the music of Seussical and the set design of the show.

What do you like about Flourish?

I love the way that Flourish focuses on both the performance aspect of music (through concerts and such) while also focusing on developing musicians’ skills outside of performing.

What else do you like to do?

Other than music, I like to watch and review movies, paint by number, and go to used bookstores.
